E3 Omagh and Castlederg

Trust you are well!  This year has most certainly taken an unexpected turn – and no doubt there are challenges still to come for us all.  However, despite this, we at Scripture Union NI have a continued heart and desire to make God’s Good News known!  Since March, staff have been working hard creating online resources and seeking to support those they usually work alongside in schools and churches within their E3 areas.  The interest and feedback has been incredibly encouraging and has been opening up new opportunities, even within the challenges of lockdown!

However, in being realistic about the longer term implications for each of our E3 areas, the E3 staff themselves and the work they are involved in, the decision has been made to furlough all our E3 Workers (along with other SU staff) for the months of June and July.  We will continue to review things in the months ahead and consider what the new academic year will look like for our ministry within the changing face of education particularly.  We will keep all our regular supporters and friends up to date as best we can – check out our website and social media pages too.

Whilst life before lockdown is already becoming more distant in our memories, it is important to take note of ALL that God has done through the E3 Schools’ Project in the last academic year!  We hope that you enjoy reading stories of encouragement and hope in this Annual Report, and that you will continue to stand with us prayerfully, practically and financially in the academic year ahead.

Thank you for your support!  E3 simply could not happen without the many churches, individuals, businesses and others who partner with us so generously – not just financially, but in so many other ways as well.  Perhaps now, more than ever, we value your continued support and partnership in this ministry, as together we trust the unchanging and sovereign God through the many changes our world is facing.

‘Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm.
Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord,
because you know that your labour in the Lord is not in vain.’ 1st Cor. 15:58

Yours sincerely,

I have been blessed to have Ellie & Seth working alongside me in Omagh & Castlederg this year! Have a watch of this video to hear some of their highlights, what they have learnt and what they have planned for the future!

Please continue to pray for these guys as they move on to their next step.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, our Schools’ Team will be on furlough for the month of June. Please continue to pray for our staff during this time, and if you have any queries relating to SUNI Schools’ Ministry, please contact Leanne Dunlop on leanne@suni.co.uk

I never though I would be sending out my termly news in the middle of a pandemic! But alas, the “normal” day to day of an SUNI schools’ worker has changed massively over the past few weeks, and it will continue to do so as we journey through this period of unknown. As Christians, we believe the words of Romans 8:28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” We believe that God works for good and though this time of uncertainty he is still moving in the lives of his people. Recently, I have been listening to this beautiful song by Laura Story on repeat. Click on the video below to listen to it. Here are some of the lyrics:

“Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You’re near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise”

Let us encourage and pray for one another through this time. We are living through a strange season where our world is hurting, yet we have a Heavenly Father who is bigger than this pandemic. Pray that during this time we would be able to share the comfort and joy our Heavenly Father brings us daily.

April 2020 Prayer Points

So much can change in a month….
I thought I would be sending out an
“April Prayer News” filled with prayer
for RE lessons with P7 classes,
primary & post primary assemblies & SU groups…but that is not the case.
The day to day of an E3 schools’ worker has changed drastically over the last few weeks!
It is a very different rhythm but we are still seeking to engage, equip and empower in new and creative ways. Please pray for us as a team as everything is a new thing at the minute and we are learning as we go! Here is the schedule of what we plan to release every week. I would love if you could share it with churches and families! Thank you for your continued support! We appreciate it so much!

Keep an eye on our social media for more updates!!!

Click on this video to hear a little about what the Omagh & Castlederg team got up to over the months of February and March and to her why Ellie & Seth would recommend the internship. Please continue to pray for these guys as they finish off their internship very differently to how we thought they would!

A clip from the formal

A real highlight of the month of February was the Joint E3 Formal which I hosted alongside Alastair from E3 Fermanagh. Have a watch of this short highlights video which should give you a flavour of the evening.

We have been out and about in lots of schools this month sharing God’s Good News through assemblies and in SU groups.

Praise God for the relationships that have been built between local schools and myself and thank Him for the exciting opportunity to visit some new schools in the summer term!

Prayer Points February 2020

Ellie and Seth have finished their first term as interns in Omagh & Castlederg. Have a watch to hear about their highlights and how you can pray for them.
During January, Ellie, Seth & I  have had the opportunity to visit the post primary SU groups in the area. I love the diversity there is between all of the SU groups here in Omagh & Castlederg. But even though they are different in terms of size & context, what links them all together is a hunger to learn more about God’s word.  Whether there are 40 pupils or 4 at SU, we love having the opportunity to visit and to spend time getting to know the pupils and most importantly, learning more about our amazing God.
We are really looking forward to the joint SU formal which is happening on February 13th.
Tickets are available until the 5th of February so if you know any young people who would be interested please get in touch.

Termly News

December 2019 Newsletter
Earlier in November Ellie, Seth and I went along to “Ignite The Light” which was a youth event run by Omagh Churches’ Forum. The event focused on mental health and “The Big House Ireland” came along to share on how to care for our mental health and also took some time looking at what the Bible says about such a relevant topic.

We have been out and about in lots of primary schools over the month of November delivering the “Amazing Jesus” lessons. We have really loved exploring Jesus’ miracles with the pupils and learning how Jesus can use, how He cares for us and how He shows us the way to God.

We had our first Post Primary Cluster Group meeting in November. It was great to meet with local teachers who give up their valuable time to run their school SU groups and to support them through resourcing and prayer.

During the month of October we have been travelling around local primary schools delivering “The Amazing Jesus” lessons. It has been great to open the gospel of Mark with the pupils to learn about Jesus’ miracles. We look forward to delivering lots more of these lessons throughout November.

At the end of September SUNI hosted the “Marking Your Mark” overnight where young leaders from SU groups across NI gathered together to plan for the year ahead. It was such an encouraging event. We have so many fantastic young people here in Northern Ireland who are passionate about sharing God’s Good News in their schools.
